Over the past year, I've been constantly trying to educate myself on justice and intersectionality in environmentalism. I never felt qualified to post anything related to the matter, as I knew I wasn't (and still isn't) particularly well read in this area and I don't want to be loud and wrong. Yet, I also know that there is no environmentalism without a deep reckoning with systemic injustices.

The concept of NIMBY in relation to environmental racism is simple, yet illustrative of how systemic injustices can play out as a consequence of complacency. Nobody wants hazardous facilitates in their backyard, yet when everybody opposes it with a "NIMBY" attitude, society's vulnerable groups become the victims. Activism starts from home, but in order to fight for true justice, it must also transcend home.

I have tagged a non-exhaustive list of incredible accounts that focus on intersectional environmentalism on the last page. They all do a far better job than me in unpacking environmental injustices, and if you don't already follow them, I highly recommend you do so!
